Gorgeous white sand beaches, azure waters of the Mediterranean, history-infused landmarks, mouth-watering food and some of the friendliest people in the world are just a few characteristics that the island of Cyprus is known for. But that’s not all! Out comes the night and the lazy sun-bathed resorts change into an ‘every-hour-is-a-happy-hour’ party heaven for all those looking to have some fun.
The nightlife in Cyprus is so diverse that literally there is a place for everybody, from family friendly bars with entertainment to the chilled out and relaxed lounge and wine bars on Mackenzie beach to the die-hard clubbing scene of Ayia Napa.
Nightlife and Entertainment in Kapparis
Kapparis is the furthest North of the resort areas on the South East coast of Cyprus. This is a year round resort attracting a large number of British people due to the many bars and restaurants catering to the needs of English speaking residents and tourists alike.
Many of the bars offer British branded beers and spirits as well as live music, comedy, bingo, quizzes and karaoke suitable for all the family.
There are also a number of traditional Cypriot restaurants offering night time entertainment in Kapparis including live performances by Greek dancers and musicians. Kapparis also plays host once a year to The Cyprus Sensation Beach Party which offers daytime access for all of the family to enjoy fun music and entertainment then at night the party becomes an adult playground with live DJ’s and a variety of entertainment.
Nightlife and Entertainment in Pernera
Although smaller than it’s sister resort Protaras, there is still plenty of nightlife and entertainment in Pernera to keep everyone in the family entertained.
Several bars in Pernera host live DJ’s and bands as well as an array of tribute acts to some of the greatest names in music such as Freddie Mercury, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue to name a few.
Just a short walk to the coastal area of the resort offers beach front bars with fantastic views of the Mediterranean accompanied by an host of DJ’s playing a large selection of music to suit every taste including Jazz, Funk, Soul, Blues and more. Occasionally, some of the beach front bars will host small music festivals or live bands.
A slow meander along the Pernera to Protaras Boadwalk offers a large number of bars and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy a refreshing cocktail or frappe whilst watching the world go by
Nightlife and Entertainment in Protaras
Protaras is a hub of activity and entertainment in the evenings and is popular with families and couples. The main strip runs parallel to the coastline and is jam packed with bars, restaurants and hotels. Many of the bars offer live entertainment with bands, duo’s and tribute acts. For families there is also a selection of small rides, arcades and trampolines as well as two mini golf and amusement centres on the main road that sits behind the tourist strip.
Also popular with families are The Magic Dancing Waters where you will see a spectacular display of colour and movement as the fountains before you seem to dance to music before your very eyes.
There are also a large selection of karaoke and disco bars and one or two nightclubs. Most bars are open until the early hours.
If you prefer a less lively experience why not take a stroll down to the sea front where you can sit back and enjoy the view and the beautiful Cyprus sunset whilst listening to relaxing music in the many sea front bars along the Pernera to Protaras Boardwalk.
Another more unique, evening experience is a walk up to Profitis Elias (also known as the church on the hill). This little church is situated on the top of a rock face, dotted with caves and is lit up at night. The views of the coastline and sunset are breathtaking but with quite a few steps leading up to it, remember to take it one step at a time.
Nightlife and Entertainment in Paralimni
Although not strictly a tourist resort the nearby town of Paralimni is only a short distance from Protaras and Pernera. The town has had its fair share of development, as it has outgrown its original size by leaps and bounds. The change is most noticeable in the square of the town where many restaurants, coffee shops and designer clothing stores are merged together with the old churches and houses.
The air of timelessness permeates every corner of Paralimni. Paralimni nightlife and entertainment for many here is as simple as relaxing sitting at one of the many pavement cafes and restaurants, watching the world go by.
At night, Paralimni becomes more upbeat with some bars offering live music and DJ’s as well as the more traditional taverna’s offering live Greek music and dancing.
Nightlife And Entertainment In Ayia Napa
Situated on the South East corner of the island near Cape Greko, this ‘holly dell’ (Ayia - holly and Napa - wooden valley or a dell) has come a long way since its first days. Once a little fishing village, Ayia Napa has grown into one of the hottest clubbing destinations in Europe, occupying its spot right next to the likes of Ibiza and Majorca and attracting over a quarter of a million clubbers every year.
That said, Ayia Napa still attracts a large number of families who can enjoy a huge choice of restaurants, bars with live entertainment and karaoke as well as the various amusement parks that come alive at night with music, lights and entertainment for all. The harbour is also a great night spot with all the restaurants and bars surrounding this picture perfect night image.
For those who love the clubbing and nightlife scene the largest selection of bars and nightclubs in Ayia Napa are situated in the central part of the town starting from Ayia Napa Square which is located just behind the Monastery in Ayia Napa and through the central pedestrian area to where the Ayia Napa Town Hall is situated. The area between these two points and beyond is a labyrinth of theme bars and pubs as well as clubs, restaurants and fast food outlets. This area is loud, vibrant and offers a huge assortment of music and entertainment choices. This area is extremely busy in the summer months especially during July and August where many young people come on group holidays or to celebrate Hen Nights and Stag Nights in Ayia Napa.
Some Ayia Napa bars and clubs also have swimming pools or foam machines to add to the fun and many Ayia Napa clubs boast famous DJ’s and live acts mainly from the European dance and club scene.
Clubbing in Ayia Napa
For those who are up for a really wild Ayia Napa night there are some great organised events like the Ayia Napa Mayhem Bar Crawl on a Saturday night and the Party Hard Bar Crawl Ayia Napa on a Tuesday night. Both nights include entrance to a club, free or discounted drinks, games, crazy competitions and a guided ‘crawl’ around all the liveliest night spots in Ayia Napa.
The night starts late here for all the clubbers with Ayia Napa clubs opening between 11.00pm and midnight. More often than not the clubs close at around 6am in the morning, whereas the restaurants and bars have a more conservative closing time at around 2.00 am.
The fun doesn’t stop just because the morning comes, as it is party time, all the time in Ayia Napa. Ayia Napa hosts daytime pool and beach parties galore including the famous Nissi Bay Beach Bar with daily foam parties, a variety of DJ’s and fun and games every day.
For a party on the move why not try the not to be missed Fantasy Boat Party Ayia Napa which sails from Ayia Napa Harbour with a state of the art sound system, DJ, fully stocked bar and crazy party crew onboard.

Next to the great beaches and historical sites, Larnaca offers its visitors a calmer, more relaxed vibe. Most of the bars, restaurants and taverns are centred on the palm-lined promenade known as Finikoudes, Larnaca. This area is the heart of the city at night and stretches along the main beachfront. From Finikoudes pass Larnaca Medieval Castle and the Piale Pasa promenade continues on the other side with an array of bars, restaurants, ice cream parlours and hotels eventually leading to the cosmopolitan Mackenzie Beach area of Larnaca. This is a hot spot of the city, with many lounge bars and cafes right on the beach front. In high season there are many beach parties with live DJ’s and entertainment on Mackenzie Beach.
